Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has warned the Premier League leaders against underestimating Manchester City’s ability to mount another title challenge this season, Softfootball reports.
Liverpool remain six points clear at the top of the table following their 2-2 draw with Manchester United and also hold a game in hand over their closest rivals.
Although City trail by 12 points, Dalglish believes Pep Guardiola’s side possess the experience and quality to recover from their difficult spell.
Speaking about the title race, the former Liverpool manager insisted City deserve respect because of their achievements in recent seasons. Dalglish said:
They’re always going to be there. They’ve been through a bad spell and had a couple of injuries, but I wouldn’t underestimate them. Liverpool certainly won’t underestimate them because of everything they’ve achieved.
He added that Liverpool’s priority should remain focusing on winning their own matches rather than worrying about other contenders as the title race enters a decisive phase.
