Roy Keane has criticised Harry Maguire for failing to convert a golden opportunity that could have earned Manchester United a dramatic victory over Liverpool at Anfield, Softfootball reports.
United battled back to secure a 2-2 draw after goals from Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo cancelled out strikes from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.
However, Ruben Amorim’s side came within seconds of taking all three points when Joshua Zirkzee squared the ball to Maguire, who fired over the crossbar from close range.
During Sky Sports’ post-match analysis, Keane dismissed suggestions from former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge that the pass was difficult to control.

The former United captain insisted an experienced international defender should have at least tested the goalkeeper. Keane said:
You’re passing it to an England international player. You’ve got to hit the target, Harry. If it gets blocked, no problem, but you’ve got to hit the target.
Despite the frustrating miss, the result ended Manchester United’s four-match losing streak and provided a much-needed boost ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
