This was Oscar’s exact statement:

I put my entire salary into a separate account and never touched it once. My family and I lived off the match bonuses because they were already huge.

When China made me an offer and I saw the salary, I couldn’t sleep for two days.

My wife told me, ‘You could break your leg playing for Chelsea tomorrow.’ We’re from Brazil and have a big family… so I accepted.

She said, ‘Let’s stay for just two years, then return to Europe.’ We ended up staying eight [years]. I’m not a loud person or someone who enjoys fame.

In China, I could walk the streets with my kids in peace, and I was genuinely happy.

Softfootball understands the ex‑Chelsea midfielder also added that he put his entire salary into a separate account and never touched it, explaining that his family lived off match bonuses because they were already huge.
