Softfootball can confirm Liverpool have identified Chelsea winger Pedro Neto as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, with the Portuguese international emerging as one of the club’s leading attacking targets this summer.
The Reds are currently exploring the conditions of a possible deal, although no official bid has been submitted at this stage.
Neto is understood to be open to a move to Anfield, with Liverpool viewing the 26-year-old as an ideal stylistic fit for their attacking system thanks to his pace, direct running and ability to operate from the right wing.
Despite Chelsea’s disappointing 2025/26 campaign, which ended with a 10th-place Premier League finish, Neto still contributed 10 goals and 10 assists across all competitions, with six of those goal involvements coming in the FA Cup.

Liverpool’s pursuit comes during a period of significant change behind the scenes following Michael Edwards’ departure as Fenway Sports Group’s CEO of Football. While the club’s football leadership is being reshaped, preparations for the new season continue, with reinforcing the attack remaining a key priority should Mohamed Salah depart.
For now, Liverpool’s interest is concrete, but talks remain at an exploratory stage.
