Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare scored twice as Genk fought back to earn a 2-2 draw away to Royal Antwerp in Thursday’s Belgian Pro League encounter.
The prolific striker continued his outstanding form, taking his league tally to 13 goals and four assists in 20 appearances this season.
Softfootball understands the 24-year-old has now scored in consecutive league matches and has already surpassed his goal return from last season.
Royal Antwerp made the brighter start, with Gyrano Kerk opening the scoring in the ninth minute. However, Arokodare responded almost immediately, finding the equaliser just three minutes later.
Kerk restored the hosts’ advantage in the 32nd minute by completing his brace, but Arokodare once again came to Genk’s rescue after the interval, scoring his second goal in the 51st minute to secure a share of the spoils.
The Nigerian’s latest brace further underlines his importance to Genk’s title challenge, having already eclipsed last season’s return of 12 league goals in 40 appearances.
Despite dropping two points, Genk remain top of the Belgian Pro League standings with 42 points, maintaining a three-point advantage over second-placed Club Brugge.
