Liverpool have completed the signing of Spanish winger Víctor Muñoz from Osasuna after triggering the player’s €40 million release clause, securing the 22-year-old on a contract that runs until June 2032.
The move comes as a major surprise, with Newcastle United believed to have been close to finalizing a deal before Liverpool stepped in to hijack the transfer. Softfootball understands that new manager Andoni Iraola, alongside sporting chief Richard Hughes and club executive Michael Edwards, played key roles in pushing the deal across the line.
Muñoz arrives at Anfield with a growing reputation in Spanish football. The versatile right-footed attacker is capable of operating on either wing or through central attacking positions, offering flexibility and dynamism in the final third.
His pace, direct dribbling, and ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations have made him one of La Liga’s most promising young forwards.

The Spain international enjoyed a solid 2025-26 campaign with Osasuna, scoring six goals and providing two assists in 34 league appearances. Those performances attracted interest from several clubs, but Liverpool ultimately won the race for his signature.
The transfer reflects Liverpool’s commitment to building for both the present and the future. With Muñoz joining on a long-term contract, the club views him as an important addition capable of strengthening the squad’s attacking depth and developing into a key figure in the years ahead under Iraola’s leadership.
