The breakthrough came inside seven minutes when Paraguay midfielder Damián Bobadilla inadvertently turned the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a dangerous delivery. The early goal energised the hosts, who continued to dominate proceedings.

Softfootball observed, their pressure paid off again in the 31st minute as Folarin Balogun doubled the advantage with a composed finish. The in‑form striker struck once more in first‑half stoppage time (45+5), sending the USA into the break with a commanding 3–0 lead.

Paraguay attempted to mount a response in the second half, pulling one back through Mauricio in the 73rd minute after good work from Julio Enciso. But any hopes of a late comeback were extinguished when Gio Reyna fired home in the 90+8th minute, sealing a comprehensive win for the tournament hosts.

Folarin Balogun was the standout performer, earning the Ultra Superior Player of the Match award after a relentless attacking display.

Malik Tillman created three chances, provided an assist, and recorded a 7.9 rating, while Christian Pulisic impressed before his halftime substitution, producing an assist and two big chances.

Captain Tyler Adams controlled the midfield with nine defensive contributions and seven ground‑duel wins. Veterans Tim Ream and Chris Richards ensured Paraguay rarely threatened.

Paraguay struggled after the early own goal and found it difficult to cope with the USA’s pace and movement.

Julio Enciso was their brightest performer with a 7.8 rating, providing the assist for Mauricio’s goal. Mauricio himself impressed from the bench with a 7.4 rating.

Defender Juan Cáceres worked tirelessly, recording a match‑high 12 defensive contributions, but Paraguay were undone by defensive errors and the intensity of the American frontline.

Bobadilla, whose early own goal set the tone, finished with the lowest rating of the match at 5.0. The result continues a strong start for the host nations at the 2026 World Cup. Mexico opened with a 2–0 win over South Africa, while Canada were held to a 1–1 draw by Bosnia and Herzegovina.
