The President of the United States, Donald trump has thanked FIFA for overturning Folarin Balogun’s red card, a decision that now makes the American striker eligible to play against Belgium in the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Softfootball understands Balogun received a straight red card in the 64th minute following a challenge on Bosnia defender Tarek Muharemovic. Referee Raphael Claus initially allowed play to continue, believing the incident did not warrant disciplinary action, but VAR intervention led to the dismissal.
In a post on Truth Social, later shared by the White House, President Trump described FIFA’s reversal as “a reversal of great injustice.”
