Luka Modrić has suffered a double fracture of his cheekbone following a collision during Juventus FC’s clash with AC Milan, ruling him out for the remainder of the season, Softfootball reports.

According to Fabrizio Romano on his x handle, the Croatian midfielder will undergo surgery but is still expected to be fully fit in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Croatia national team.

Luka Modrić has suffered a double fracture of his cheekbone against Juventus yesterday. He’s expected to be 100% ready for the World Cup with Croatia.

The injury occurred after a heavy challenge with Manuel Locatelli, forcing Modrić off immediately as he was later seen in visible discomfort.

The match itself ended in a tense 0–0 draw at San Siro, with both sides creating chances in a tightly contested encounter. Adrien Rabiot tested Michele Di Gregorio, while Rafael Leão was unable to convert a rebound opportunity.

Modrić’s injury now casts uncertainty over his immediate future at Milan, with the club potentially denied the chance to properly bid farewell should this mark the end of his spell.

Elsewhere, Xavi Simons has also been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious ACL injury while playing for Tottenham Hotspur, dealing another major blow ahead of the summer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea secured a place in the FA Cup final with a narrow 1–0 victory over Leeds United at Wembley, with Enzo Fernández scoring the decisive goal and Robert Sánchez making key saves to seal the win.
