Softfootball has gathered that Harry Maguire is on the verge of signing a new contract with Manchester United, reports indicate a two-year extension until June 2027, including an option to extend further to 2028.

The update, shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account and with additional confirmation from David Ornstein, suggests that final negotiations are underway despite interest from clubs in Italy. The proposed deal reflects the club’s renewed trust in the England international following a strong resurgence this season.

Romano revealed:

Harry Maguire, on the verge of signing new deal at Manchester United until June 2027! Deal at final stages; details being sorted as @David_Ornstein reports. New deal will also include an option to extend until 2028. Maguire had proposals from Italy but priority to #MUFC.

Maguire’s revival has been closely linked to his improved performances under manager Michael Carrick, who has publicly praised the defender’s mentality, composure, and leadership after a difficult period marked by criticism and injuries. Since returning to form, Maguire has become a reliable presence in United’s backline, providing crucial defensive stability.

The 33-year-old, who joined United in a high-profile £80 million move in 2019, had previously lost the captaincy and faced uncertainty over his future. However, his consistent displays in the 2025/26 season have reshaped perceptions and secured his place in the squad.

Despite ongoing off-field legal issues in Greece, fan reactions have largely focused on his resilience, with many applauding his ability to bounce back and perform under pressure.
