Bodø/Glimt’s impressive run has included victories against several high-profile teams during the competition. Earlier in the tournament, they defeated Manchester City 3–1, a match in which Rodri received a red card in the 62nd minute.

They also overcame Inter Milan in the playoff stage, winning 3–1 at home on February 18, 2026, before securing another victory 2–1 away on February 24, 2026 to complete an impressive two-leg performance.

Their latest victory against Sporting further confirms their status as one of the tournament’s most dangerous underdogs. While many teams have struggled to maintain defensive stability in the knockout stage, Bodø/Glimt managed to keep a convincing clean sheet in a dominant 3–0 result.

Elsewhere in the Champions League, it has been a difficult week for clubs from the Premier League. Liverpool lost 1–0 to Galatasaray SK, while Tottenham Hotspur were heavily defeated 5–2 by Atlético Madrid and Newcastle United managed a 1–1 draw with Barcelona on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

The following day also produced challenging results for English clubs. Arsenal were held to a 1–1 draw by Bayer 04 Leverkusen, while Chelsea suffered a 5–2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Meanwhile, Real Madrid secured a dominant 3–0 victory over Manchester City.

With these results, several Premier League clubs now head into the second legs of their ties facing either a deficit or a difficult position.

At the same time, Bodø/Glimt’s latest victory highlights how unpredictable this Champions League season has become, with emerging teams continuing to challenge Europe’s traditional powerhouses.
