Van der Sar chose Frank de Boer as the defensive anchor, praising his ball-playing ability from the back. Alongside him he picked Frank Rijkaard, known for his strength, versatility, and leadership in midfield and defense.
For energy and intensity, he selected Edgar Davids, famously nicknamed “The Pitbull” for his aggressive and relentless playing style.

Creativity and elegance came from Dennis Bergkamp, widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted players the Netherlands has ever produced.
Leading the team was the legendary Johan Cruyff, considered the greatest Dutch player in history and the symbol of the country’s famous Total Football philosophy.
