Wolverhampton Wanderers have appointed Vitor Pereira as their new head coach, tasking the Portuguese manager with steering the club away from relegation danger in the Premier League.
Pereira arrives at Molineux after leaving Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab, agreeing an 18-month contract following the club’s decision to part ways with Gary O’Neil.
Softfootball gathers that Pereira becomes the third Portuguese manager to take charge of Wolves, following in the footsteps of Nuno Espirito Santo and Bruno Lage.
The club confirmed his arrival in an official statement, noting he had already begun work with the squad. It read:
Pereira, who departs Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab, has taken training at Compton Park for the first time on Thursday and will be in charge when Wolves travel to Leicester City this weekend.
Pereira inherits a side currently five points adrift of safety, with the worst defensive record in the league after conceding 40 goals so far this season.
