The arrivals come in the aftermath of a disastrous 2025/26 Premier League campaign, which saw Wolves finish bottom of the table and suffer relegation from the top flight.

Their demotion was mathematically confirmed on 20 April 2026, following a 0–0 draw between West Ham United and Crystal Palace, a result that left Wolves 16 points from safety with only 15 points left to play for. The club ultimately ended the season in 20th place with just 20 points, winning only 3 of their 38 matches.

Softfootball believes, the signings of Jiménez and Trippier signal a clear intention from the club’s hierarchy to rebuild quickly and push for an immediate return to the Premier League. Jiménez brings familiarity and experience from his previous spell at Molineux, while Trippier adds leadership, quality and top‑level pedigree.
