West Bromwich Albion caretaker coach Chris Brunt has expressed disappointment over Josh Maja’s injury setback.

The Nigerian Super Eagles striker is expected to be sidelined for several weeks after sustaining a lower leg injury, reports Softfootball.

Maja’s return date is currently unknown, although he could still feature for the Baggies before the end of the season.

Brunt described the injury as a major blow to the club, highlighting Maja’s importance to the team beyond his goalscoring contributions.

The 26-year-old has been in impressive form for West Brom this season, scoring 12 league goals.

The striker had previously missed a large part of last season due to two serious ankle injuries before returning to enjoy a productive campaign with the Championship club.

West Brom will now have to cope without one of their key attacking players as they continue their push for a strong finish to the season.
