Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has expressed optimism that Wilfred Ndidi’s latest injury won’t keep him out for long, following his early substitution against Brighton on Sunday.
The Nigeria international was forced off in the 52nd minute of Leicester’s thrilling 2-2 draw, replaced by Oliver Skipp as a precaution.
Softfootball understands the midfielder felt discomfort in his hamstring during the closely fought encounter at the King Power Stadium.
Speaking after the match, Van Nistelrooy explained why the substitution raised some concern within the camp. He said:
Wilf, when he comes off you know there’s a problem. I hope it’s minor. He felt a slight strain in the hamstring. Hopefully it’s not too much. We’ll see how quick we can get him back.
Ndidi has made 15 league appearances for the Foxes this season and remains a key figure in midfield.
Van Nistelrooy will be hoping to have him available for the upcoming clash with Newcastle United, though Boubacar Soumare is suspended for that game and Harry Winks continues his recovery from a groin issue.
