Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has revealed his admiration for Florian Wirtz, naming the Liverpool midfielder as the German player he would most like to have in his Spain squad.
Speaking to BILD, De La Fuente was asked which German player he would choose if he could add one to his team. The Spain boss immediately picked Wirtz, praising the midfielder’s style of play and quality.

De La Fuente joked that Wirtz’s lack of a Spanish passport made such a scenario impossible, but made clear that he is a big admirer of the 23-year-old’s ability.
Florian Wirtz! Incredible player. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a Spanish passport. I really like the way he plays,
De La Fuente said.
The comments come as Wirtz continues to attract attention following his move from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool. Despite facing scrutiny over his performances in England, the Germany international remains highly regarded across Europe.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have not completely ruled out the possibility of Wirtz returning to Germany in the future. Bayern supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently admitted that he could not say whether another move for the midfielder might become possible.
Rummenigge questioned whether Wirtz is happy at Liverpool and recalled that Bayern had previously been in contact with the player’s parents before Wirtz chose to pursue a different path.
For now, there is no indication of an imminent Bayern move, but Rummenigge’s comments leave the possibility open if Wirtz’s situation at Liverpool changes.
With De La Fuente publicly highlighting his qualities and Bayern still keeping the door open, Wirtz remains one of the most closely watched midfielders in European football.
