Christantus Uche continued his fine run of form in the Spanish La Liga after scoring in Getafe’s impressive 2-1 away victory over Girona on Friday night. The Nigerian midfielder gave his side the perfect start by finding the back of the net just three minutes into the encounter, putting the visitors in control from the opening stages.
The goal marked Uche’s third league strike of the season, while he has also contributed two assists in 24 appearances for Getafe. His consistent performances have made him one of the club’s standout players during the campaign.
Girona responded strongly after the break and restored parity in the 54th minute through Yangel Herrera. However, Getafe remained composed and reclaimed the lead when Borja Mayoral scored what proved to be the winning goal.
The hosts’ task became even more difficult after Herrera was shown a straight red card, reducing Girona to 10 men for the remainder of the match. Getafe took advantage of the numerical superiority to see out the game and claim all three points.
