Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche delivered an impressive second-half display as Getafe battled to a 1-1 draw against Valencia in Sunday’s La Liga encounter.
The 21-year-old continued his steady rise in Spanish football, making his 11th league appearance of the season for Getafe. Softfootball understands that Uche has now recorded one goal this campaign while establishing himself as an important member of José Bordalás’ squad.

Uche was introduced at the start of the second half, replacing Álvaro Rodríguez, and quickly made his presence felt with an energetic and composed performance in midfield.
Valencia had taken the lead in the 35th minute through Enzo Barrenechea, who reacted quickest to a corner kick to stab the ball beyond Getafe goalkeeper David Soria from close range.
The visitors looked on course for all three points until late drama unfolded at the Coliseum.
Getafe were awarded a penalty after Maximiliano Caufriez was adjudged to have committed a foul inside the area. Mauro Arambarri stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to restore parity and rescue a valuable point for the hosts.
Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili was then called into action in the closing stages, producing a brilliant double save to deny Diego Rico and Bertug Yildirim, ensuring his side left Madrid with a share of the spoils.
Uche’s lively cameo once again highlighted his growing influence at Getafe, with the Nigerian midfielder continuing to impress in his debut season in La Liga. His consistent performances will undoubtedly keep him on the radar of the Super Eagles coaching crew ahead of future international assignments.
