Super Eagles forward Anthony Nwakaeme played a key role as Trabzonspor secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Eyupspor in Monday’s Turkish Super Lig clash.
Nwakaeme provided the assist for the only goal of the match, taking his tally to three league assists for the season.
The Nigerian set up midfielder John Lundstram, who found the back of the net in the 59th minute to give Trabzonspor the lead and ultimately secure all three points.
Eyupspor had a golden opportunity to take control of the game early on after being awarded a penalty just seven minutes into the encounter.
However, Mame Thiam failed to convert from the spot as Trabzonspor survived the early scare before eventually finding the breakthrough in the second half.
Nwakaeme’s contribution helped Trabzonspor claim another important victory as they continue their push up the league table.
The result lifted Trabzonspor to ninth position with 29 points from their league campaign
