Softfootball earlier confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur have officially dismissed head coach Thomas Frank after just eight months in charge, with the club sitting 16th in the Premier League and edging toward the relegation zone.
Spurs were reportedly unhappy with the results and performances under Frank, prompting the board to act. In an official statement shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle, the club explained their decision, insisting they had initially been committed to giving the Danish coach time to build for the future before results forced a change.
Fabrizio posted:
Tottenham statement on Thomas Frank: “Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together”. “However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary”.

Frank departs after overseeing 38 matches across all competitions, recording 13 wins, 11 draws and 14 defeats. His dismissal adds to a growing list of high-profile managerial sackings in 2026, following the exits of Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, Ruben Amorim at Manchester United and Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid.
Tottenham are now assessing whether to appoint a permanent replacement immediately or wait until the summer. Roberto De Zerbi is believed to be the leading candidate after a formal approach was made prior to Frank’s appointment, while former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is also under serious consideration.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Liverpool travel to face Sunderland this evening in a crucial encounter. Sunderland sit 11th with 36 points and remain unbeaten at home this season, while sixth-placed Liverpool, on 39 points, know victory is vital after Chelsea and Manchester United both dropped points.
