Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Rafael Louzán has reiterated his intention to see the 2030 FIFA World Cup final played in Spain, despite the tournament being jointly hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, alongside the centenary matches in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
Louzán has repeatedly stated that Spain should stage the biggest match of the tournament, arguing that the country has the facilities, experience and organisational capacity required to host the final. However, FIFA has not yet formally confirmed the venue for the 2030 final.
The RFEF president recently went further by saying that Spain should be the location for the decisive match and that he expects the country to play a leading role in the organisation of the tournament.
Louzán’s comments come as Spanish football continues to enjoy a remarkable period of success on the international stage. Spain recently produced another impressive performance by defeating Croatia 4-1 in the UEFA Nations League, with Lamine Yamal playing a starring role.
Yamal opened the scoring after just two minutes before Croatia equalised through Dion Beljo in the 28th minute. Marc Pubill restored Spain’s advantage three minutes later, before Yamal added his second goal in the 63rd minute. Nico Williams completed the scoring in the 88th minute.
The victory marked Spain’s first home match since winning the 2026 World Cup and provided another showcase for the talent available to Luis de la Fuente’s side.
With Spain continuing to strengthen its position on the international football stage, Louzán believes the country should also be entrusted with the 2030 World Cup final. For now, however, the final venue remains a matter to be determined through the tournament’s official planning process.
