Nathan Tella has been shortlisted for Bayer Leverkusen’s January Goal of the Month award following his superb finish against Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.

Softfootball reports the Nigerian winger’s early strike is among the standout goals selected by the Bundesliga champions for the monthly fan award.

Tella found the net in spectacular fashion during Leverkusen’s dramatic 3-2 victory at Signal Iduna Park on January 10. The winger opened the scoring inside the opening minute after latching onto a well-weighted pass from Robert Andrich, giving Xabi Alonso’s side the perfect start in one of their biggest league fixtures of the season.

The goal marked Tella’s first Bundesliga strike of the campaign and highlighted his growing importance within Leverkusen’s squad. Although competition for places remains fierce, the 24-year-old has continued to make valuable contributions whenever called upon.

Tella has featured in 16 league matches this season and will be hoping supporters reward his memorable effort with the club’s monthly prize. He faces competition from teammates Alejandro Grimaldo, Florian Wirtz and Patrik Schick, whose goals have also been nominated for the January award.
