Chelsea captain Reece James believes his side paid the price for failing to convert their chances in Tuesday’s 2-2 Premier League draw against Bournemouth. The defender, who recently returned from a lengthy injury layoff, marked his comeback by scoring a superb stoppage-time free-kick to rescue a point for the Blues at Stamford Bridge.
James admitted Chelsea had enough opportunities to secure all three points before Bournemouth fought back into the contest. Softfootball understands the skipper was pleased to make a positive impact after months on the sidelines but stressed that the team must become more ruthless in front of goal to avoid similar results.
Reflecting on the game, James said:
It was great to get the point, and we should have really put it out of sight. If you don’t take your chances, it can come back and hurt you.
He also added:
