Former West Ham manager Harry Redknapp believes the club made the wrong decision by parting ways with Julen Lopetegui.
Softfootball understands Redknapp was unhappy with how the Hammers handled the Spaniard’s exit, especially amid reports that discussions with a potential replacement had already begun.
Introducing his verdict during an interview with BBC Radio, Redknapp questioned the club’s approach to the managerial change saying:
It’s disrespectful, no doubt about that. If you want to get rid of him, you call him and say, ‘I’m sorry it’s not worked out.
The veteran coach also warned that managing West Ham comes with enormous pressure because supporters expect both success and attractive football.
He argued that if a club wants to move on, they should front up, tell the manager it has not worked out, and part ways cleanly before pursuing replacement targets
He added that any incoming manager, including reported target Graham Potter, will have to deliver results while maintaining the club’s traditional style of play.
