Barcelona’s winger Raphinha is set to return to Spain for a medical assessment after sustaining a muscle injury in his right thigh while representing Brazil in an international friendly as represented by fabrizo romano via their x handle.

The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) confirmed on March 27, 2026, that the injury occurred during the match against France in Boston, prompting Raphinha’s halftime substitution. Barcelona estimates that the winger will be sidelined for around five weeks.

Romano reported;

OFFICIAL: Raphinha has suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh, Brazil confirm. He’s going back to Barcelona to be assessed by staff.

The injury, identified as a hamstring issue specifically affecting the biceps femoris of his right thigh, could see him miss critical fixtures, including both legs of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals and a key La Liga clash against Atlético Madrid.

He is tentatively expected to return in time for the La Liga match against Osasuna on May 3 or the highly anticipated El Clásico on May 10.

This setback comes after a period of remarkable form for Raphinha. On March 15, he scored a hat-trick against Sevilla in a 5–2 victory, helping Barcelona maintain a four-point lead at the top of La Liga.

Just days later, in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg clash against Newcastle United, he contributed two goals and two assists, earning him a spot in the Champions League Team of the Week and the Player of the Week award on March 19.

Softfootball reported the recurrence of this thigh problem as a “monumental blow” for manager Hansi Flick, who now faces the challenge of navigating Barcelona through the season’s most decisive fixtures without one of his in-form stars.
