Raphinha has been provisionally nominated as one of Barcelona’s captains while the club wait for the dressing room vote to determine the final leadership group.
The Brazilian joins Pedri and Eric García as the new provisional captains, with Frenkie de Jong currently unavailable. Head coach Hansi Flick explained that the appointments are temporary until the squad is finalised and the players hold their vote.
Frenkie is not available right now. I’ve decided on the captains provisionally until we do the vote, once the team is finished,
Flick said.
Softfootball understands that Raphinha’s inclusion among the pro visional captains further highlights his importance within Flick’s plans for the new campaign.

The Brazilian winger has also received a major boost regarding his future, with Flick confirming that Raphinha will remain at Barcelona next season. The decision ends further uncertainty surrounding the player as the Catalan club continue preparing for the upcoming campaign.
Raphinha has been a key figure for Barcelona since arriving at the club and is expected to remain an important part of Flick’s attacking setup, while his leadership qualities could now see him take on an even greater role inside the dressing room.
