Davide Ancelotti has played down the controversy surrounding Vinícius Júnior and Xabi Alonso, insisting that the incident was not responsible for Real Madrid’s failure to win major trophies.
Speaking to Diario AS, Ancelotti said he did not believe Madrid’s trophy struggles could be attributed to the moment involving the Brazilian forward and the coach.

“I don’t think Madrid failed to win major trophies because of that moment,”
Davide Ancelotti said.
The former Real Madrid assistant coach also defended Vinícius while acknowledging that the forward made a mistake during the incident.
We have never had a negative reaction from anyone. They don’t want to leave the pitch? Fair enough, that’s normal. What Vini did, Kroos has done a thousand times. Modrić and Casemiro too,
he explained.
Vini is the first to know he made a mistake. But that is in the past now
Ancelotti’s comments come as Vinícius continues to remain an important figure at Real Madrid, with the forward expected to play a significant role under Xabi Alonso.
Meanwhile, Davide Ancelotti has departed Brazilian side Botafogo after guiding the club to a place in the Copa Libertadores.
Ancelotti took charge of Botafogo as part of his first senior head-coaching experience and helped the Brazilian club secure qualification for South America’s premier club competition.
His departure marks another step in the coaching career of the 37-year-old, who previously worked alongside his father, Carlo Ancelotti, at several clubs, including Real Madrid.
Davide will now look ahead to his next coaching challenge after gaining valuable experience in Brazil, while his comments on Vinícius and Alonso continue to attract attention in Spain.
