Paris Saint-Germain claimed their second consecutive European Super Cup after defeating Aston Villa 2-1 in Salzburg. Goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué sealed the win, while 17-year-old Brian Madjo made history as the youngest scorer in Super Cup history.
Softfootball gathered Luis Enrique’s side controlled the early stages, with Kvaratskhelia cutting inside from the left to slot home the opener. Aston Villa responded just before halftime when John McGinn picked out Madjo, who volleyed past Matvey Safonov.
The decisive moment came in the second half when Doué broke through the lines and curled in the winner. Initially ruled offside, VAR confirmed Matty Cash was playing him on, giving PSG the trophy for the second year running.
PSG are also planning to resume direct talks with Ajax over a potential deal for Mika Godts after the Super Cup, with the French champions expected to return with an improved proposal.
