Paris Saint-Germain have intensified their pursuit of Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki after presenting their sporting project to the Japan international in an effort to secure his approval before opening formal negotiations with the Italian club.
Softfootball understands that PSG have identified the 23-year-old as a priority target and are now preparing to begin club-to-club discussions with Parma.
The French champions have strengthened their position in the race after Juventus saw an opening bid for Suzuki rejected. With the Turin club yet to return with an improved offer, PSG have moved quickly to convince the goalkeeper that Paris is the ideal destination for the next stage of his career.
Parma are understood to value Suzuki at around €30 million and are expected to hold firm during negotiations, having seen the goalkeeper’s stock rise following a series of impressive performances in Serie A.
Earlier reports had it that Aston Villa were also monitoring Suzuki’s situation as they assessed goalkeeping options ahead of the summer transfer window. However, PSG have now emerged as the leading contenders by making direct contact with the player’s camp.
With the player’s approval now a key step in the process, attention will soon turn to negotiations with Parma as PSG look to finalize one of their priority signings of the summer.
