The match finished goalless after 90 minutes — an eerie repeat of the sides’ earlier group-stage meeting before FC Masar prevailed 4-3 from the spot to claim bronze.
It marked back-to-back defeats for Edo Queens, who had also fallen 3-1 to TP Mazembe in a bruising semi-final just days earlier, according to Softfootball’s checks.
Yet the tournament wasn’t without highlights for the Nigerian champions: a 3-0 opening win over Ethiopia’s CBE and a stunning 2-1 comeback victory over defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns showed genuine quality earlier in the competition.
The final now belongs to TP Mazembe and hosts AS FAR, who will contest the continental crown.
