Ousmane Dembélé Says Leaving Barcelona to PSG Was the Right Decision After Back‑to‑Back UCL Titles and 2025 Ballon d’Or

Ousmane Dembélé has stated he believes he made the right decision leaving Barcelona for Paris Saint‑Germain, a move that has transformed his career, leading to two consecutive Champions League titles and the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

Softfootball understands, Dembélé officially left Barcelona for PSG on 12 August 2023, ending a six‑year spell marked by inconsistency and unfulfilled potential. PSG signed him for £43.5m, and since then, the French winger has completely revived his career, far surpassing his Barcelona output of 40 goals in 185 games and three La Liga titles.

This was his statement:

I think I made the right decision to leave FC Barcelona. In my case, I think it was time to leave the club. Although I was very attached to Barça, the club I supported since I was little. But for me it was important to sign for PSG.

He also spoke about Kylian Mbappé, urging fans to stop being overly aggressive toward the French superstar.

This was his statement:

“There are too many critics towards Kylian. Mbappé is incredible, a top player and a great guy out of the pitch. People should not be so aggressive against him. They criticise Kylian for anything he does. That’s way too much.

Dembélé highlighted that Lionel Messi has always been the best player in the world, saying that even at 28, Messi was fantastic, dangerous, and his quality never gets old.

He also spoke about Zinedine Zidane, calling him a legend and expressing hope that Zidane becomes the France national team head coach one day reminding fans Zidane won three Champions League titles in a row, insisting he would be an incredible manager for France.
