Osasuna manager Vicente Moreno has praised Umar Sadiq after the Nigerian striker’s brilliant late goal denied his side victory in a thrilling La Liga encounter.
Sadiq scored twice as Valencia fought back to earn a 3-3 draw, with his superb 87th-minute strike rescuing a valuable point for Los Che. Softfootball gathered that Moreno had nothing but admiration for the quality of the forward’s decisive finish. The Osasuna coach said:
It was a stroke of genius from Umar.In the end, there was very little we could do to stop it.
Moreno also admitted his side failed to manage the game properly after taking the lead, allowing Valencia to grow in confidence as the contest progressed. He explained saying:
In the second half we weren’t calm or patient enough with the ball. That allowed Valencia to come back into the game.
The Osasuna boss believes Sadiq’s moment of brilliance ultimately punished his team’s inability to control the closing stages.
