Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares has completed a permanent transfer to Italian Serie A club Lazio after spending time with the Rome-based side on loan.
The Portuguese full-back impressed during his spell in Italy and his performances convinced Lazio to make the move permanent. The transfer brings an end to Tavares’ time at Arsenal, where he had struggled to establish himself as a regular first-team player.
Softfootball reports that the permanent switch gives Tavares the opportunity to continue his career in Serie A after adapting successfully to Italian football. His pace and attacking approach have been among the qualities that attracted Lazio to the defender.
Tavares joined Arsenal with a reputation as an energetic full-back capable of contributing in the final third. However, competition for places at the Emirates Stadium limited his opportunities and led to a series of loan moves.
