AC Milan have reached a full agreement to sign Spanish centre-back Mario Gila from Lazio, with the defender set to sign a five-year contract at San Siro.

Softfootball understands that Gila was keen on the move and pushed to join the Rossoneri as the club continued strengthening its squad ahead of the new season under head coach Rúben Amorim.

The 25-year-old, who came through Real Madrid’s academy before joining Lazio, has developed into one of Serie A’s reliable defenders during his time in Rome. His experience in Italian football made him a priority defensive target for Milan.

The transfer will also benefit Real Madrid financially. Due to clauses inserted when Gila left the Spanish giants for Lazio, Real Madrid will receive 50% of the transfer fee, with reports indicating the payment will be worth around €15 million.

The arrangement is similar to other sell-on agreements Real Madrid have retained on former academy players, allowing the club to continue generating income from their youth development system.

Gila’s arrival represents another important addition for Milan as Amorim reshapes his squad ahead of the new campaign, with the Spanish defender expected to add quality, composure, and depth to the club’s backline.

Bournemouth have also reached a full agreement to sign 21-year-old Uruguayan striker Álvaro Rodríguez from Elche. The deal is worth an initial €25 million, with a further €5 million in performance-related add-ons, while personal terms have already been agreed between the player and the Premier League club.
