No Al-Nassr move for Cucurella as defender stays focused on Chelsea

Chelsea have no intention of parting ways with Marc Cucurella amid reports circulating about an alleged links with Al-Nassr. The Spain international has become a crucial part of Enzo Maresca’s team at Stamford Bridge, after initially struggling when he joined from Brighton for big money in 2022.

According to a report recently published by Fichajes, Al-Nassr are reportedly preparing an audacious €70 million bid to lure Marc Cucurella away from Chelsea, with Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly leading the push behind the scenes.

The Saudi Pro League giants have made the Spanish left-back a top transfer priority, viewing him as the ideal reinforcement to anchor their defensive line heading into the new season.

But now, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, he shared on his X handle that Al Nassr have not submitted any offer for Marc Cucurella, and the Spanish defender remains fully committed to Chelsea.

The tweet reads:

“Al Nassr didn’t send any bid for Marc Cucurella and the player’s full focus remains on Chelsea.

“He’s key part of CFC project”.

For Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea, the timing of Al-Nassr’s alleged interest could not be more disruptive. Fresh off a successful campaign that included FIFA Club World Cup glory, the Blues are building momentum, with Cucurella playing a key role in that rise.

The 26-year-old defender was a constant presence in the squad last season, notching up 48 appearances, seven goals, and three assists, numbers that underline his growing influence both defensively and offensively. His resurgence has also seen him re-establish himself in the Spanish national team setup.

While reports of Cristiano Ronaldo’s interest may be flattering for Marc Cucurella, it is highly unlikely the Spaniard would switch Chelsea given the trajectory the Blues are on, especially after their recent triumphs in the Club World Cup final, and UEFA Conference League as well as qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
