Manchester United responded emphatically to their disappointing opening-day defeat to Hull City, coming from behind to beat Ipswich Town 5-2 at Old Trafford in a remarkable turnaround inspired by Bruno Fernandes, Softfootball reports.
Ipswich made the brighter start and stunned the home crowd in the 29th minute when Leif Davis calmly finished to give Gary O’Neil’s side the lead. United looked vulnerable early on, with Michael Carrick’s team struggling to deal with Ipswich’s direct approach.
However, Fernandes restored parity in the 40th minute with a composed finish from distance, giving United the momentum they desperately needed heading into the interval.
The hosts took complete control after the break. Jacob Greaves turned the ball into his own net in the 56th minute before Fernandes converted from the penalty spot five minutes later to put United ahead for the first time.
Fernandes completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute, capping an extraordinary individual display and putting the contest firmly beyond Ipswich.
Bryan Mbeumo added a fifth for United in the 82nd minute as the Red Devils continued to pile pressure on their opponents. Ipswich managed a late consolation through Akpom in the first minute of stoppage time, but it did little to change the outcome.

The victory provides a much-needed response for Carrick’s side, while Fernandes delivered a powerful reminder of his importance after being linked with a possible departure during the transfer window.
