Softfootball can confirm that Manchester United striker Chido Obi-Martin has completed a straight loan move to Eredivisie club Willem II after successfully passing his medical in the Netherlands.
The 18-year-old centre-forward will spend the season with the promoted Dutch side as he looks to gain valuable senior experience and regular first-team minutes.
Obi-Martin made his Manchester United debut in February 2025 after joining the club from Arsenal. The Denmark youth international has since made eight first-team appearances for United, becoming one of the youngest players to feature for the club at senior level.
The Danish-Nigerian forward possesses a strong physical presence and has long been regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young strikers. He developed through Arsenal’s academy before making the move to Old Trafford, where his goalscoring potential continued to attract attention.
However, competition for places in Manchester United’s attack has made regular playing time difficult. With established forwards such as Benjamin Šeško, Matheus Cunha and Joshua Zirkzee ahead of him, a temporary move was considered the best option for his continued development.
Willem II’s return to the Eredivisie provides Obi-Martin with an opportunity to play consistently against experienced opposition and adapt to the demands of senior football.
