Newcastle United have reached a verbal agreement with Matthias Jaissle to become the club’s new head coach, with the 38-year-old German now on the verge of taking charge at St James’ Park.
Softfootball understands that Jaissle has agreed to a contract running until June 2030, with the formal signing expected shortly after Al Ahli are officially informed of his departure.
The appointment represents a major long-term commitment from Newcastle’s hierarchy, who have identified Jaissle as the ideal candidate to lead the club into its next chapter.
Jaissle first earned widespread recognition during his successful spell at RB Salzburg, where he guided the Austrian club to multiple league titles and an Austrian Cup triumph while also leading them into the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.
His arrival follows the departure of Eddie Howe, who leaves Newcastle after one of the most significant managerial spells in the club’s modern history.
