Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has identified former Chelsea star Eden Hazard as the toughest opponent he has faced during his professional career.
Softfootball understands that the Super Eagles midfielder came up against the Belgian several times during Hazard’s successful spell at Chelsea and believes the former winger’s ability made him one of the most difficult players to stop.
Hazard established himself as one of the Premier League’s finest attacking players during his time at Stamford Bridge, earning widespread praise for his dribbling ability, close control and explosive acceleration.
Reflecting on those encounters, Ndidi admitted Hazard’s combination of strength, balance and quick changes of direction made defending against him extremely challenging.
The Nigerian international explained that Hazard could instantly change direction whenever defenders got close, making it almost impossible to predict his next move before he had already escaped.
Ndidi joined Leicester City from Belgian side Genk in January 2017 and has since become one of the Foxes’ most consistent performers.
The 27-year-old has made 230 Premier League appearances for Leicester, contributing 11 goals while establishing himself as one of the league’s top defensive midfielders.
