Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has praised Super Eagles defender Ola Aina for his impressive performances with Nottingham Forest this season, Softfootball reports.
Aina has established himself as a key player under manager Nuno Espirito Santo, featuring in every Premier League match for Forest while making valuable contributions at both ends of the pitch.
The Nigeria international has scored two league goals this season and has earned widespread recognition for his consistency, defensive discipline and attacking support from full-back.
Speaking on his Obi One Podcast, Mikel said he has been delighted to watch Aina’s continued development since leaving Chelsea. The former Super Eagles captain highlighted the defender’s improvement in defensive situations, as well as his increased attacking output through crosses and goals.
Mikel recalled playing alongside Aina during their time at Chelsea and insisted the defender’s talent had always been evident. He added that Aina has continued to flourish since returning to the Premier League following his spell in Italy with Torino.
The former Chelsea midfielder believes Aina’s excellent form has been instrumental in Nottingham Forest’s impressive campaign and expects the defender to keep improving as the season progresses.
