Marquinhos Opens Up On PSG Struggles After Champions League Triumph

Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos has reflected on the difficult journey he experienced before finally lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy with the French club. 

Softfootball understands that the Brazilian defender endured several disappointments during his long career in Paris, including painful defeats in the latter stages of the competition. 

Marquinhos joined PSG in 2013 and became one of the club’s longest-serving players, witnessing numerous attempts to conquer Europe end in frustration.

The defender eventually saw his perseverance rewarded when PSG secured their maiden Champions League title. 

Reflecting on the achievement, Marquinhos admitted that the journey had not always been easy and that he had experienced significant suffering along the way. 

He said: 

I suffered a lot. There were many difficult moments, but we never stopped believing that this day would come. 

The Brazilian’s success is particularly significant given his long association with the club and his role as captain. 

His leadership has made him one of the most respected figures in PSG’s history, and the Champions League triumph provides a fitting reward for his years of service. 

Marquinhos can now celebrate finally achieving the European glory that had eluded him throughout much of his PSG career.
