Maresca revealed that during his first meeting with Chelsea’s owners and sporting directors, he told them the current group had everything needed to become a dominant force in the Premier League over the next decade.

He insisted he still stands by that assessment.

According to the former Leicester City boss, Chelsea’s investment in young, talented players has laid the foundation for sustained success, regardless of who is in charge in the future.

Maresca also disclosed that the club’s hierarchy did not place immediate expectations on him to win trophies. Instead, they tasked him with building a team capable of competing consistently at the highest level for many years.

The 44-year-old believes the club is already moving in the right direction.

Despite growing optimism surrounding Chelsea’s impressive performances this season, Maresca stressed that his focus remains firmly on the present rather than long-term ambitions.

He explained that his priority is helping his players improve every day on the training ground and preparing the team for each match, beginning with Southampton.

Chelsea head into Wednesday’s fixture looking to continue their encouraging form as they push to strengthen their position near the top of the Premier League table.
