Manchester United’s difficult run of form showed no signs of ending after they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United at Old Trafford in Monday’s Premier League clash, Softfootball reports.

The Red Devils have now lost four consecutive matches since their victory over Manchester City, piling more pressure on the team following another disappointing display in front of their home supporters.

Newcastle made the perfect start, taking the lead in the fourth minute through Alexander Isak before Joelinton doubled the visitors’ advantage just 15 minutes later. Eddie Howe’s side comfortably protected their lead for the remainder of the contest to secure a deserved victory.

The result also marked only Newcastle’s second Premier League win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, underlining the Magpies’ growing confidence against the record English champions.

The victory lifted Newcastle to fifth place in the Premier League standings with 32 points, boosting their hopes of qualifying for European football next season. Manchester United, meanwhile, remained 14th on 22 points as their alarming slump continued.

Elsewhere, Chelsea were beaten 2-0 by Ipswich Town, extending Enzo Maresca’s side’s winless run to three league matches. Despite the defeat, the Blues stayed fourth on 32 points, while Ipswich climbed from 19th to 18th in the table.
