Manchester United have completed the signing of 20-year-old goalkeeper Kit Margetson from Swansea City after agreeing a compensation package with the Championship club.

Although Margetson never made a senior appearance for Swansea, he gained valuable first-team experience during a loan spell with Connah’s Quay Nomads last season, helping the Welsh club secure qualification for European competition.

The signing comes shortly after United suffered a pre-season defeat to Wrexham, with Super Eagles goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo producing another impressive display to keep a clean sheet against the Red Devils ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Softfootball understands The move also follows the departure of his father, Martyn Margetson, from Swansea at the end of last season. The former Manchester City goalkeeper, who also served as England’s goalkeeping coach under Gareth Southgate, left his role as the club’s head of goalkeeping before his son’s switch to Old Trafford.

Manchester United view the young goalkeeper as another promising addition for the future as they continue strengthening their academy and development pathway.
