Manchester United have identified Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos as a priority transfer target as they continue reshaping their squad under Michael Carrick ahead of the 2026/27 season, Softfootball reports.

The Red Devils are reportedly preparing an offer for the highly rated Brazilian, who is valued at around £50 million, although formal talks between the two Premier League clubs have yet to begin.

United’s interest comes after missing out on both Elliot Anderson, who completed a record-breaking move to Manchester City, and Mateus Fernandes, whose future remains the subject of interest from several Premier League clubs.

Despite impressing whenever called upon, Santos currently finds himself behind Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández in Chelsea’s midfield pecking order. The Blues are also believed to be open to generating funds this summer as Xabi Alonso looks to strengthen his squad in key positions.

The club have already agreed a £35 million deal to sign Éderson from Atalanta, although the transfer has been delayed after the Brazilian midfielder received a late call-up for the FIFA World Cup.

With Champions League football returning to Old Trafford next season, United view midfield as their top priority, and Andrey Santos has now emerged as one of the leading candidates to strengthen the heart of Carrick’s new-look side.
