Chelsea are putting the finishing touches on a deal to sign Pep Chavarría from Rayo Vallecano, with the transfer now entering its final stages.
A few days ago, Softfootball reported that Chelsea had stepped up their pursuit of Chavarría by lodging an improved bid as negotiations between the two clubs gathered pace.
The Blues are close to reaching a full agreement after submitting an improved offer, with only the final details of the package still being clarified. The deal is expected to be completed within the next few hours if everything proceeds as planned.

Chelsea and Rayo Vallecano are understood to be finalising a transfer worth €19 million in guaranteed fees, with additional performance-related add-ons also being agreed before the Spanish defender is given the green light to travel and complete the move.
The Spanish left-back has remained one of Xabi Alonso’s priority defensive targets throughout the summer, and Chelsea are now on the verge of securing his signature as they continue strengthening the squad ahead of the new campaign.
