Ademola Lookman has praised his Atalanta teammates for their performance in Friday’s 2-1 win over AC Milan, a result that made it nine straight Serie A victories at the Gewiss Stadium.
Charles De Ketelaere opened the scoring early, out-jumping Theo Hernandez to head home Marten de Roon’s free kick, before Rafael Leao exploited space in behind to set up Alvaro Morata’s equaliser ten minutes later.
Softfootball understands Lookman then settled things with a header just three minutes from time.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the match, the Nigerian reflected on the significance of the win. He said:
It’s a very important game against a very strong team that is doing well in the League. We performed well tonight, three big points and we continue like this.
Lookman also credited the squad’s togetherness for the consistent run of results. He added:
I think we just continue to play the way we play, match by match. We believe in ourselves as a team, so we continue like this and stay together.
The 27-year-old has now racked up 10 goals and five assists in 17 appearances across all competitions this season, underlining his importance to Gasperini’s side.
