Former Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi believes Ademola Lookman has done enough to be crowned the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year.

Lookman is among the 10 finalists shortlisted for the prestigious individual honour after an outstanding campaign for both club and country.

Softfootball understands that the Atalanta winger is widely regarded as one of the favourites for the award following his impressive performances throughout the last season.

The 27-year-old also earned global recognition after finishing 14th in the final Ballon d’Or rankings, becoming the highest-ranked African player on the list.

Onazi praised Lookman’s remarkable rise, describing him as an exceptional talent whose dedication, discipline and consistency have made him Africa’s standout performer.

The former Lazio midfielder added that Lookman’s Ballon d’Or nomination further underlines the quality he has displayed over the past year.

According to Onazi, the CAF Player of the Year award should go to the Nigerian star based on merit, insisting that his performances last season were deserving of the continent’s highest individual football honour.
