Koke, who joined Atletico’s academy at the age of six, has spent his entire professional career with the Spanish club and sees the expanded Club World Cup as a special opportunity. Koke told the club’s website:

My career is almost over, so to speak, and I don’t know if I’ll be able to play for four more years

The Atletico captain is particularly motivated by the possibility of lifting the trophy as captain, describing the competition as a unique experience for both himself and the club.

Koke has won several major honours with Atletico and remains a key figure in Diego Simeone’s team. He believes participating in the tournament would be a fitting reward for the years of hard work he has invested in the club.
